It's Sunday night. You did the work this week. The work was the easy part.

What's left is the part you keep pushing to "later." The invoice you still haven't sent. The three you sent and never chased. The pile of transactions you swear you'll categorize this weekend.

The weekend keeps not happening.

Here is what that costs. Intuit's 2025 report found the average small business is owed $17,500 in unpaid invoices, with 47% of them more than 30 days late.

That is not a cash-flow problem. That is money you already earned, sitting in someone else's account, because chasing it feels rude and you are tired.

Getting paid and keeping the books are the two most boring jobs in a one-person business. They are also the two easiest to hand to AI, because they are the same three moves on repeat: a messy input, a tool that does the job, and an AI that glues them together.

You stay the boss who approves. The machine does the typing. You can wire both in an afternoon, mostly on free tiers.

Start with the half that pays you back fastest: chasing late invoices.

Not sending invoices. Chasing them. The follow-up is where the money leaks, because most people send once and then go quiet. Automate that single step and you get paid weeks sooner without writing one awkward email.

Here is the prompt. Paste it into Claude or ChatGPT, fill the brackets, and it writes the reminder for you:

Write a payment follow-up email for an invoice that is [X] days overdue. Tone: warm for the first nudge, firmer at 30 days. Under five sentences. Reference invoice [#], restate the amount owed, and make paying the single easy next step. No guilt, no apology.

Run it the moment an invoice crosses 7 days, again at 14, again at 30. That is the whole job. It is the highest-paid ten minutes in your week.

Once that clicks, wire the rest so it runs without you. We wrote the exact afternoon build for each half:

Same shape both times. Stripe or Lemon Squeezy handles the money. n8n or Make moves the data between apps. Claude reads the mess and writes the output.

All four connect to each other out of the box, and three stay free until money is flowing. (Which of these have an API or a ready MCP server is in our AI tools database.)

Your assignment this week is just the chaser. One prompt, one trigger, paid faster by Friday. The full back-office build can wait for the weekend that, this time, you will actually have.

Not sure the back office is even your right first move? Our free Founder's Triangle Diagnostic scores your idea and names the corner to fix first, in ten minutes. Paste it into Claude or ChatGPT and answer honestly.

Reply and tell me which invoice you are finally chasing. I read every one.

See you next Monday.

Look at what you just did. You didn't build an app. You didn't pick a sexy niche. You automated invoice reminders.

Here is the thing I keep seeing. Everyone online chases the exciting build, the AI startup, the thing that makes a good screenshot. Almost no one bothers to automate invoicing, because you cannot flex it on a timeline.

That is exactly why it pays. The boring jobs have no crowd. While everyone argues about AGI, the person who quietly automated getting-paid for ten local businesses is charging each of them $500 a month, and no one is racing them for it.

Boring is a moat. Run at the work other people are too proud to post about.
